reviews

I think I have made the decision about the lost files. It was touch, but I think I will go with the middle way. Clean what I have up a bit, pretty it up just a touch and then start! In january I want to ask friends if they know people who would like counseling/coaching knowing that I am only just starting out and of course they will get it at a discount rate. So I don't have to be perfect and can learn without feeling guilty about not being perfect. Also looking into more volunteer work to get experience.

The promised reviews.
Finished The Founding by Cynthia Harrod Eagles. I just found out it is the first volume of about thirty!!!! And the family sage spans many centuries. I picked this one up because it takes place around the wars of the roses time, one of my favorite time periods. It was written in 1980, makes sense if there are 30 books following. I liked it but I am not wild about it. There were too many characters in the book, about three generations. The action moved a bit too fast, this way I could not really get into the characters. I guess this should be less of a problem with the books to follow as they will cover less time per book. What I liked extremely was the way Richard III was portrayed. In 1980 it was not fasionable to potray him in a favorable light. And he was portrayed very well in this book, very likeable, although being only a minor character. The murder of the princes in the tower was placed firmly in the shoes of Henry VII after Richard's death!!!! Not historical I think, but of course I don't think Richard did it. So if I can pick up other volumes cheaply I might go on. 30 volumes is a bit ofputting to be honest. And I am someone who likes the same characters to be in all books of a series not sure if this is really my thing.

The second one I finished is Terry Goodkind's confessor. Hopefully the lat book in the series. I am saying hopefully because it is beginning to drag. I still love the first three books very much. But it should have stayed a trilogy as it was intended. Not milked because it sells well. Yup I know that is harsh. And I did enjoy most of the later volumes but it didn't have that umpfh that the first three had. This volume, well.... it was readable, enjoyable but nothing really surprising or fancy. A nice read, but forgotten tomorrow. A bit of a dissapointment as a closure to the series really. So yeah I hope this is really the last one in the series. Time to try something new.
