just a quick post

Just a quick post as I am getting ready to head out to the first Realms forum meeting. I am looking forward to it. It is not often you get to share time with people who read the same books you do. I have some friends who share my passion for SF or historical fiction and non-fiction. But for my romance books it is rare. And of course I have not been out of the closet long in admitting I like reading those books. To my surprise most people who enjoy it have a high education and like me like to read it as light reading in between studybooks or intensive jobs.

Started part six of Laurell Hamilton's Merry Gentry, a lick of frost. I finished book 5 just in time yesterday so I can go straight on with the new one. Book 4 and 5 were not the strongest in my view, the story was a bit weak, and I do like a good story and character development in my books. I have high hopes that number six is going to be better in that regard. In any case it will make for a few hours of nice light reading. And of course in a few days I will tell you if the story was indeed better. I only wished they had not switched the cover design. I liked the covers on the first few books much better. Way more stylish.

Sixth holiday blog

We are coming to the end of my holiday. Friday was the last day of sightseeing and we had selected Porthsmouth. Again not too far a drive from Winchester. Here you can see two great historic ships. The first is HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship at Trafalgar. Last time I was here you went in with a guided tour, now it was selfguided. And I remem bered correctly how hard it is on us who are a bit taller. With 1.84 it is not fun. And the poor captain of the boat was 1.93. While would anyone of that length want to enter the navy of that time is beyond me. We all enjoyed the tour very much and after this one we went to the Mary Rose museum. She is a Tudor royal ship, named after Henry VIII's favorite sister. There is about half of the ship left and it is still being sprayed with a solution to save her. Amazing that it sunk almost 500 years ago. This year in September she will be dry and then they will preserve her and build a new museum that will open in 2012. I do want to come bac...

This week

It's been an up and down week healthwise. Loads of headaches, maybe that was to be expected after everything that happened last week. Workwise I have been busy with my coach on wednesday and ITC specialist today. Both meetings were very usefull and gave me a good feeling. Tomorrow I start going over the texts of my website again and my logo designer is working on the new logo for safe haven coaching. On the reading front I finished men of the otherworld, other books had to wait and that doesn't happen to me often. They don't get much better then this. Also started in another Anne Bishop novel. I really love that series, very strong characters, lots of brooding and romance but not so high on sex. Just what I like.

Glastonbury thorn

These days I pay more attention to my professional blog. Study and clients don't leave me much time for personal blogging. But there are occasions that I feel I have to write something. Last week someone destroyed the Glastonbury thorn on Wearyall Hill. Glastonbury is my all time favorite place in the world. I come there as often as I can as it has a very special admosphere. Glastonbury is one of those few places in the world that is im portant to more than one religion. It is important to christians and to pagans. To christians it was the site of the very first christian church above ground. When christians in Rome were still coming together in secret, here people could gather together in a church. Today the remains of the abbey built on the foundations of that church can still be seen. But Glastonbury is also very important to pagans.
