On finding my feminin side and driving
Saturday was the wonderful realms meeting. There were 11 of us altogether. All women of course. Haven't run into a man yet who likes romance books. :) I enjoyed myself hugely. And that is a good thing. From my 25 until my 40 year I have mostly had male friends. Of course there have always been some good female friends, but the main part of my friends were male. That was because of the roleplaying I guess. That is still mainly a male world. And on holiday it is usually me and a bunch of guys. And I get on fine with them. Although it is not always a good feeling to be one of the guys. If you understand what I mean. Sometimes you want to be a woman. The last couple of years I have noticed that I am making a lot of new female friends and liking their company more then I did a while ago. So now my circle of friends is turning out more even, both male and female. I am not sure I would have enjoyed a meeting like saturday so much 5 years ago, and I certainly would not have admitted that I like romance novels. LOL
Yesterday morning I started in another of my new books. [I also received some books on saturday, some I won in a contest and everybody got a free book, happy happy] One silent night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. She writes about the dark hunters, and that universe is very interresting. It rests heavily on legends of the old greeks and twists it into this time and place. I remember buying the first book by accident. This was before I was openly reading romance and I thought is was a historic novel. I liked fantasy lover so much that I was hooked on the series and it has helped to bring me out of the closet on romance books. I don't think she can top the last book Acheron with this one, because that was amazing and the first I bought in hardback, I just could not wait. I finished the Kresley Cole book and I promised to tell you about that one. And yes I liked it a great deal better then the first. It had an interreting storyline, fast paced and character interaction and development. It gripped me a great deal more then the first one did and I am now officially hooked on this series as well.
Yesterday I was relaxing in my room ready for a nice quiet day with some email, a lot of books and some DVD's when I got 3 virus warnings on my PC. I removed them succesfully and followed the instructions to start the laptop again when I got the dreaded blue screen of death! Panic!!!! With my computer not in the house there was no backup now and I had planned a full week of working on the practice. I am back in the flow and I did not want to loos that. So many plans flashed through my head. All equally wild. I called my tech support wizard and he gave me some tips, that kept me busy most of the morning but did not work. Called him again and asked if I could bring the laptop by. That did mean driving 32 km each way and on a kind of british A road. That means you have to merge in with traffic they thing that I am still scared off. So I asked my dad to go with me as backup. And I did it. It was scary, the merge lanes on the road are not long and they are windy so you are not up to speed when you have to merge. I did it three times because I also took a wrong turn on the way back. But I did it! Don't see myself doing it in the rush hour yet but on a weekend it is doable! Only next time I need a longer rest between driving. Now I drove 1,5 with under and hours rest period inbetween. On 4 paracetamol my arms still felt like they were on fire. But the wizard fixed both my computer and my laptop and I am a happy puppy again today. Going back to my homework now. :)
