craft fair and gay marriage ban
Yesterday I visited my first ever crafts fair. I never call myself a creative person except for writing, although I did a lot of crafty things as a child. Practically now I don't have the patience to do crafts. People would say I have loads of time but I can't set myself to it. Of course most of them I would have to do in very small portions because of my hands, the same I do everything else. And that would be hard as well. Having to stop when you are in the flow.
But the fair was fun! I was in good company with two good friends, Marjon and Susan. And I was only going for the fun. And fun we did have, loads of it. We only saw about half of the stalls and didn't have time to do any workshops. I was good and didn't buy much. In the past I would have and on coming home would have dumped it in a corner and probably never have done anything with it later. I am getting better with my money. Only christmas is a danger zone and I did buy an ornament for christmas. Anything with sparkly lights gets my attention. I have to go back to the blokker and marskramer soon. I love their houses with lights. Anyways it was a great day and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. I was in bed before nine in the evening though, I was so tired. That is the only downside to days like that. But they are well worth it.
I had listened to the radio yesterday yesterday morning about the american elections. And I was thrilled that Obama won. Even if he can help to change the world a little bit it will help. Both the speeches by McCain and Obama were impressive. I liked McCain as a person just not his political ideas. I loved the way Obama quoted from Lincoln's Gettysburg adress in his speech. He did not forget that Lincoln was also a president from Illinois and he was president at the time of the civil war, the presidency that ended slavery. Now 150 later there is finally a half black american president.
Only one other thing did dissapoint me. The vote on the gay marriage in California. How dare people decide who can marry and who can not. And if 52% is against it that means 48% of the population is in favor. That is still a huge number of people. Why not just let these people marry in peace. They are not hurting anybody and it makes them happy. In my country it has been legal for a while now and most people accept it as perfectly normal. I wish it was the same way all over the world.
