I hate fancy shoes

I just had to cancel my gym class because I can't walk on any of my shoes, bummer. I am fine as long as there are just socks on my feet. For my job interview on Tuesday I decided to wear fancy shoes. [well not fancy but with a small heal, ant not shoes I had worn before {now I know why again!!!!}] It was a 15 minute walk to the location I had to be. I barely made it there, but managed to hide the pain, I hope! It was a shoe free house. when I put them on again after 90 minutes, agony!!! I don't know how I made it home, but boy, I felt like crawling the last bit. After getting them off again, for good this time, I saw the heel of my right foot was completely worn through. An open wound and hurting like hell. I put something on it and the pain went away. did not have to leave the house Wednesday or Thursday and cheerfully put on my regular shoes again this morning. Gasp! Shock! Auw!!!! So no more fancy shoes for me and I have to figure out an emergency plan because I do need to

Scared

I am in a weird mood today. On the one excited about the new things going on in my life. The going back to work, starting my business, the IRO [that is when a company helps you get back to work and the government pays for it]. But on the other hand I now have to tell the UWV [government organ paying my disability money] what my plans are. And I am sooooo scared of them. My nightmare is to be left without any money. The what if... ghost is rearing it's ugly head. What if I don't find clients, what if I am physically not able to work and they take my money away, I would be left with nothing. And that scares me so much that it takes my breath away. What if I am not good enough at my new job.... On the other hand, I know this is what I want to do, and I am tired of sitting at home not doing anything usefull. I now have the skills to work and I think I can work at least a number of hours a week. I hope they will be reasonable and give me the time to start this and not take all my mo

Strange day

What a strange day this is so far. I wanted to relax today but so far I am not really succeeding. Spend the morning dealing with email and other chores and not really feeling relaxed and now am glued to the tv. A turkish plane crashed at Shiphol this morning. So far they are reporting no fatalities or very little. It is amazing what a good pilot can do. Looking at the plane it is a miracle. But still, it is a shock. Something happened around Schiphol alwasy brings back memories of th e horrific crash all those years ago when an El AL plane hit a high rise building in Amsterdam. This one just missed the runway and dropped in a field. Monday was Jaco and Sandy's wedding. I was a witness and more or less best man. So I had to be at their place at seven in the morning. I accompanied Jaco to the florists getting the bridal bouqet and flowers for Sandy to wear in her hair. They had rented a beautifull old Bentley with a driver, and it was great to ride in that car. Gouda cityhall is also

In this recovery week I am still allowing myself more reading time during the day. On a normal weekday only studybooks are allowed during the day and light reading is done in bed in the evening. But because next week will be so hectic and I am getting rid of the last bits of flu I am going easy on myself and indulging me. Just finished Stay the night by Lynn Viehl a novel of the darkynn. I love her bo oks! I was already hooked on the stardoc series and buying them for years. They are SF, this series falls within paranormal romance. One of the best series around. There is a story-arc that spans the novels, we learn more and more about the world in each book. There are recurring characters and every novel new characters are introduced. That is handled with the right balance. There is romance and sexual tension, but it is not the mainstay of the books or the only point of interrest, the story is strong and the action moves along. Every book has a plot as well on top of t he arc that gets

Yeah!

I survived the first round of letters!!!!! I have got a jobinterview next tuesday at 13.30. It is for the unpaid job I talked about earlier. But it would be good practice and a return to working society. And there is the possibility of paid work after six months. Please keep everything you have crossed for me next week!!!!

Going to concentrate on the books I read this week as nothing else happened. In between bouts of flu I did manage to read some on the less bad days. Yeah this is a fun flu that targets the head so plenty bad headaches and it was way touch not to reach for the paracetamol, I guess the worst week I have had so far. But I have 13 days to go now on my 3 months and I am so not going to screw that up! Firs t I finished Iron kissed, the third Mercy Thompson book by Patricia Briggs. This se ries really rocks , I love it! There is a good story, sex is only a small part of it, which I like best. Lots of angst and attraction but not exactly acting on it by the main character. Fast becoming a favorite series of mine. Can't wait till part 4 comes out in paperback. Yeah pet peeve, it came out in HB, hate it when it happens in the middle of a series. Means a longer wait. :( And I am bad at waiting, but not going to spend way too much money on a HB that will take up more space. I was not very impr

Cloack is here!

May cloak is in!!!! After I paid the postman of course. And plenty, grrrrrr. Also 'inklaringskosten' on top of the tax. They sure know what to charge. But it is beautifull and long!!! As I hoped. As it is now it is too long even, which means it will cover most of the dresses with the hoopskirt under it. I also know that if I even want another one and for a dress without a hoop, I can go one size smaller. All set for the elf fair now. Some other great news about the elf, James Masters is coming this year. Spike from Buffy!!!! I can't wait until the end of april. I send out the job letter yesterday both through the mail and through email. And this morning there was already a reply that it had come through okay. She had read it and thought it looked good! And she will get back to me after all aplications have come in. I am exited, that is not a no! I am really in the running for the job trainee job. Maybe the fact that it is unpaid will keep some of the other students from rep

Neartly there

Nearly there.... my cloak has left the customs building, so hopefully it gets here on monday or tuesday. And I will be paying the nice taxman. That does get my blood up. I don't mind paying tax, but I DO mind paying tax over the postage on the package. That is the most silly, unfair tax I have ever heard of and it sets me off every time it happens. :) Today I am going to finish my letter for the counseling add. Done many rewrites over the l ast couple of days and now let it stew for two days. This afternoon I will see if I want to change things or sent it out like it is. Exiting!!!! Finished Kelley Armstrong's the summoning in record time. I love her wome n of the underworld series. I tried her detective novel last year but did not like that at all, so I was not sure about another new series. This is YA, but I loved it! Can't wait till the next book comes out. Hope that won't be a hardback like some of her other books. That is another pet peeve, series that go to hardb

Exciting!

Going to respond to a job add for the first time in years!!!! It is unpaid and 4 to 8 hours a week. [That makes it perfect for me!] But I am so exited!!!! So hope I get it. It is a counseling trainee job, and that would mean free feedback and a great oppertunity to learn. It is also on a topic that I like. Wish me luck!!!!! Oh and if anybody has tips, don't hesitate to let me know! For example, I never know if I should mention my disability in the first letter or not. My honesty says yes, but loads of people have told me not to.

not enough hours in the day!

It's been over a week since my last post!!! Way too long. Of course I was in Belgium from thursday till yesterday afternoon, so that didn't help. It was great fun though, we did almost nothing else but play boardgames! Anno 1701 was certainly one of the winners of the weekend, we all liked it. It is from the same maker as Catan, and some of the basics are the same, but there is more too it. We played ticket to ride nordic countries a lot as well. That one is very addictive. If I had more money and more space to put things I would buy more from the series. There is the US board with an expansion, the europe board with an expansion and the Marklin version. Powergrid is fun as well, but I think that is better with more players. And of course there was the getting to know the rules. So much better when you have someone around who knows the rules well to explain them to you. My cloak is not in yet, it is definitely at customs, bugger. That is going to cost me extra money. Of course
